The Ghost Photoshoot social media trend with a scarf-infused twist!
The Ghost Photoshoot social media trend with a scarf-infused twist!
Picture this: you’re a teenager with access to social media in the fall of 2020, and there’s one trend you’re seeing ALL over the place. No matter what platform you’re on, you hear that Jack Stauber Song and see people donning sheets and having the time of their ever-so-aesthetically-pleasing lives doing “ghost photoshoots.” It’s INCREDIBLE! Or at least that’s what I thought.
So naturally, the next year when the trend arose again, I texted my best friend, Emily, and began planning for the most epic ghost photoshoot TikTok had ever seen. Now I should probably note the plot twist, which is that there was in fact no ghost photoshoot that fateful fall day, because I could not find any white sheets. A simple problem with a major impact on our photoshoot.
Emmy and I were undeterred. Well, maybe a little, but regardless we were determined to have a spooky season photoshoot, if it was the last thing we did… that day.
So when I began tying dozens of vintage scarves (inherited from my Grandma) all over Emily, she didn’t even bat an eye. Behold, Scarfia was born.
The scarf ghost
The shoot started with a scarf tied over Emily’s face like a mask (an ode to the ghost photoshoot thing) and these were some of my favorite shots with the mask on.
Later though, we decided to get some shots without the mask and it was a stroke of genius. Also can we talk about what a master poser Emily is?!?
It’s a bird! It’s a Plane! It’s a… Scarf?
And then scarves started flying…
And, of course, the detail shots:
The Money Shot
Finally, every photoshoot has that one gold photo. The image that makes the whole hullabaloo worth it. I present to you, the money shot. If this was the only photo we got I honestly would’ve been fine.
Ghost inspired photoshoots
In the end, we were incredibly pleased with our results! I think the moral of the story is any photoshoot inspired by the ghost photoshoot trend is bound for success!
XOXO, Attalie
